Sandra Anderson RN, CCAP graduated from Finger Lakes Community College in 1985 with an AAS Honors   Nursing degree. She began working at Highland Hospital and has remained there for most of her career. The patients she has worked with have been varied. The first three years she cared for general surgery patients and then moved to general surgery and OB-GYN surgical patients.

Then in 1994 Sandra moved to a unit that was a medical unit with a specialty in oncology. She remains on that unit today although the specialties have changed to adult cystic fibrosis, stroke, sickle cell, and hospice. In 1998 she became the charge RN on the unit, assisting other nurses in the care of their patients and being sure the unit would run smoothly for each 24 hours. For a short while from 1994-1998 she worked in the out patient oncology unit providing her patients with education and cancer treatment. Presently she works on her impatient unit and works per diem as a Diabetic Nurse educator in the Diabetes Health source at Highland Hospital.

December 2007 was an exciting month for her as she became a Certified Practioner in Clinical Aromatherapy, fulfilling a dream she has had for several years. The course she studied was designed by Jane Buckle PhD RN for health care professionals. The course involves 68 hours of course work over 18 months, plus an additional 182 hours of student's study time. The student studies and uses 33 essential oils, does a case study on one oil, and then takes a written exam. The certification is endorsed by The National Association of Holistic Aromatherapy. In December 2007 Sandra also became trained in Reiki Level I.
